Department Briefing

The Parking Lot Protocol

Department Notice: Your mind is not designed to store an entire day at once. The Parking Lot exists to hold the overflow so you can finally breathe.

Loose intentions behave like background apps. They drain clarity, increase avoidance and create that familiar static of "too much at once".

The Department recommends the following procedure:

  • Park every loose task. Big ones, tiny ones, half-formed ones.
  • Move them out of your head and into the list.
  • This frees cognitive space for actual thinking, not spinning.
  • Look at the list without pressure. You are not choosing your whole life.
  • You are selecting one item to work with.
  • Enter the Corridor with a single task. Short timer. Limited focus.
  • No moral judgement attached.
  • When the interval ends, decide: Complete it, Park it again, Or choose something else.
  • Repeat as needed until paralysis dissolves.
  • Momentum comes from closure, not intensity.

Your Parking Lot can be exported later for planning, journaling or sharing. For now, treat it as a mental unloading dock. A place where tasks wait without shouting at you.

Clear your mind. Choose one. Walk the corridor again.
